Anne's Review - December 2025

Well, I suppose I would be considered a bit of an old timer, both because I have been doing bootcamp for about 4 1/2 years now and because of my age (let's just say my kids are all older than Rees and Erin!)

‍

When I started bootcamp I remember asking someone if it got any easier and they said 'no'. I remember thinking 'well, that can't be right, otherwise what is the point?' but Rees would tell you that is the point. I now lift heavier weights (but that's probably because Rees hides the smaller ones so I have no choice), can flip the tyre although I have yet to master the perfect press up. I fear that may never happen, but, never say never. It certainly doesn't get any easier but I keep showing up and keep trying. Rees always talks about functional mobility and this is so important for us at any stage in life. If you don't use it, you lose it!

‍

When we have had a 'bring a friend' session, suddenly I have no friends as they don't see the appeal of rolling around in a wet field but I have grown to enjoy the outdoors workouts - there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing, although the rain is another matter.... It is raining as I write this and I'm already not looking forward to tomorrow morning for a core session with Erin but when I have done the session I will feel great. It has taken me a while to get together the perfect outfit but an array of layers sees me through the year. Waterproof trainers have been a game changer.

‍

The downsides of bootcamp: Rees likes his dressing up, I do not. At Halloween, I said fine, I'll take the burpees forfeit. For Christmas, well I'm a Grinch, need I say more?!
